Biological Dentistry

The various therapies encompassed by biological dentistry all share a single basic premise: They are founded on the idea that the teeth can affect the general health of the body, and vice versa.

They say a mothers work is never done and most active mothers would
agree. With taking the kids to school, soccer practice, doctors
appointments, shopping for groceries, keeping the house clean, and
trying to fix good, nutritious meals for the family, most active
mothers do not want or need something like irritable bowel syndrome to
inhibit their activity and make things for difficult. That is why so
many active mothers use Bowtrol Colon Cleanser

Most active mothers know that you cant take care of your family if you
are not taking care of yourself. Part of being healthy is maintaining
a clean colon for good functioning of the gastrointestinal system.
This provides proper intake of nutrients to the body, giving the body
enough energy to function and keeping the immune system active and
ready to ward off ailments and disease. The process of being healthy
requires two or three bowel movements per day to shed toxins that
build up in the colon. Thats where a quality, natural product like
Bowtrol Colon Cleanser can come in. By using Bowtrol Colon Cleanser
fecal matter can be expelled in a more effective manner. Bad bacteria
that is building up in the colon and preparing to attack the body can
be discharged. The result is better health.

Irritable bowel syndrome can be a real bummer. Imagine trying to
concentrate on fixing a creative and healthy dinner for the family
when all you can think about are abdominal cramps. Add to that feeling
boated and knowing that you suffer from water retention. It makes
everything much harder to accomplish. How can you think about taking
care of your family when you feel so lousy? And dont even think about
the diarrhea. Having to run to the bathroom every few minutes is not
only uncomfortable but it is downright inconvenient. Getting all of
that stuff out of your body that causes such problems is a solution
that no one can argue with. One very effective way of doing that is to
use Bowtrol Colon Cleanser. Add Bowtrol Colon Cleanser to healthy
eating habits, making sure that you have enough fiber, whole grains,
vegetables and fruits and reducing the intake of fat and processed
sugar is a great first step towards colon cleanliness and colon
health. Something all busy and active mothers need. Health colons and
healthy lifestyles lead to happy families, and a sure way to improve
your colon health is use of Bowtrol Colon Cleanser.

Imagine this: an organic pill that kills the appetite and attacks obesity. It has no known side-effects, and contains a molecule that fools your brain into believing you are full.

Deep inside the African Kalahari desert, grows an ugly cactus called the Hoodia. It thrives in extremely high temperatures, and takes years to mature.

The San Bushmen of the Kalahari, one of the world's oldest and most primitive tribes, had been eating the Hoodia for thousands of years, to stave off hunger during long hunting trips.

When South African scientists were routinely testing it, they discovered the plant contained a previously unknown molecule, which has since been christened P 57.

The license was sold to a Cambridgeshire bio-pharmaceutical company, Phytopharm, who in turn sold the development and marketing rights to the giant Pfizer Corporation.

Fortune cactusA molecule in the cactus makes you feel full

When I traveled to the Kalahari, I met families of the San bushmen.

It is a sad, impoverished and displaced tribe, still unaware they are sitting on top of a goldmine.

But if the Hoodia works, the 100,000 San strung along the edge of the Kalahari will become overnight millionaires on royalties negotiated by their South African lawyer Roger Chennells.

And they will need all the help they can to secure the money.

Currently, many bushmen smoke large quantities of marijuana, suffer from alcoholism, and have neither possessions nor any sense of the value of money.

The truth is no-one has fully grasped what the magic molecule means for their counterparts in the developed world.

Blood sugarAccording to the British Heart Foundation 17% of men and 21% of women are obese, while 46% of men and 32% of women are overweight.

So the drug's marketing potential speaks for itself.

Phytopharm's Dr Richard Dixey explained how P.57 actually works:

"There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus. Within that mid-brain there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar.

"When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the food, these cells start firing and now you are full.

What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000 times as active as glucose.

"It goes to the mid-brain and actually makes those nerve cells fire as if you were full. But you have not eaten. Nor do you want to."

Clinical trialsDixey organized the first animal trials for Hoodia. Rats, a species that will eat literally anything, stopped eating completely.

When the first human clinical trial was conducted, a morbidly obese group of people were placed in a "phase 1 unit", a place as close to prison as it gets.

All the volunteers could do all day was read papers, watch television, and eat.

Half were given Hoodia, half placebo. Fifteen days later, the Hoodia group had reduced their calorie intake by 1000 a day.

It was a stunning success.

The cactus testIn order to see for ourselves, we drove into the desert, four hours north of Capetown in search of the cactus.

Once there, we found an unattractive plant which sprouts about 10 tentacles, and is the size of a long cucumber.

Each tentacle is covered in spikes which need to be carefully peeled.

The San will finally throw off thousands of years of oppression, poverty, social isolation and discrimination

Roger Chennells, lawyer

Inside is a slightly unpleasant-tasting, fleshy plant.

At about 1800hrs I ate about half a banana size - and later so did my cameraman.

Soon after, we began the four hour drive back to Capetown.

The plant is said to have a feel-good almost aphrodisiac quality, and I have to say, we felt good.

But more significantly, we did not even think about food. Our brains really were telling us we were full. It was a magnificent deception.

Dinner time came and went. We reached our hotel at about midnight and went to bed without food. And the next day, neither of us wanted nor ate breakfast.

I ate lunch but without appetite and very little pleasure. Partial then full appetite returned slowly after 24 hours.

The futureMr Chennells is ecstatic:

"The San will finally throw off thousands of years of oppression, poverty, social isolation and discrimination.

"We will create trust funds with their Hoodia royalties and the children will join South Africa's middle classes in our lifetime.

"I envisage Hoodia cafes in London and New York, salads will be served and the Hoodia cut like cucumber on to the salad.

"It will need flavoring to counter its unpleasant taste, but if it has no side effects and no cumulative side-effects."

You might have surely heard about 'Hoodia cactus plant extract.

You might have surely heard about 'Hoodia cactus plant extract' by this time as it has been broadcasted by numerous major media sources, like the 'BBC', 'The Today Show', 'CBS' and much more. Because of this, Hoodia Gordonii products have quickly ascended to become one of the fastest growing segments of the 'diet supplement market'.

Before choosing a Hoodia product you should know that there are many kinds of Hoodia plant, but only the Hoodia Gordonii type has an astonishing 'appetite suppressing' quality. These properties have been known about for centuries by a primitive tribe known as the 'Sans Bushmen'. During mid 1990s an institute called the C.S.I.R. 'Council for Scientific and Industrial Research' was conducting a study of native plants eaten by the 'Sans Bushmen'. Basically, the study was to see what foods, the 'Sans Bushmen' were taking that protected the toxic compounds. When the C.S.I.R. studied Hoodia Gordonii, they found it was not only non-toxic, but also it helped to suppress the appetite of animals it used to feed to.

Hoodia Cactus PlantFinally, the C.S.I.R. isolated the active ingredient responsible for the 'appetite suppressing' effects and called it 'P57'. This is the 'Hoodia cactus extract'. They then sold the rights of 'P57' to a British pharmaceutical company called 'Phytopharm'. You may be wondering how it can be there are so many Hoodia products on the market if only 'Phytopharm' has the rights to 'P57'. The answer lies in the patent laws. You know that, only 'Phytopharm' can extract the active molecule called 'P57' from Hoodia Gordonii and use it in their product line. But a whole natural plant - in this case the Hoodia Gordonii plant- cannot be patented. As a result, other companies' can very well produce supplements or products made from Hoodia Gordonii and sell them legally.

The important thing for consumers right now is to make sure that they are buying a product that contains genuine South African Hoodia Gordonii.

Hydronic Technology

By Jure Klen

By applying Hydronic technology (the science of influencing the properties of water) water that is not alive is changed into live water. The information or codes imprinted in glass, metal, clay, plastic etc. trigger self-purifying properties in water. The molecular structure of water is changed along with the bonds between hydrogen and oxygen. This process improves water and makes it more adequate for all living organisms.

Which are the mechanisms that make water alive is not known. Science is achieving more and more reliable evidence concerning the effects of live and dead water on life.
The products described in the following pages revitalise water. Water needs only to come into contact with the glass, cup, jug, plates, Hydronic etc. In an immeasurably short time water which by nature tends to be alive, receives the information and is revived.

The working of the products developed according to Hydronic technology is under constant scientific monitoring. The changes in molecular structure may be proven by measuring the wavelength difference of water exposed to ultraviolet light. The effects of live water on persons may be established by the enhanced bioplasma or aura. The increased vitality of water is shown also by intensified emission of biophotones. The impacts of the described products on water is constantly monitored by biological tests used to assess the quality of water. The effects of Hydronic technology, however, can be easily assessed by anybody: water becomes softer, smoother and more drinkable. Other beverages taste and sometimes smell differently when poured in informed containers.

Astragalus Root: From China to the Western World

By Becky Gormley

Astragalus root (Astragalus membranaceous) is derived from a perennial plant that grows in northern China and Mongolia. In China, this herb is considered one of the best for the immune system. According to the Chinese, Astragalus is said to have another effect on the "surface" of the body---that is, it is used to tonify the "Protective Qi," known as Wei Qi in Chinese. This Protective Qi is a special kind of energy, which circulates just under the skin and in the muscle. Protective Qi is a Yang energy.

Protective Qi circulates in the subcutaneous tissues providing suppleness to the flesh and adaptive energy to the skin. This function is essential to life.

An important effect of Astragalus is in its ability to fortify the "Upright Qi." Upright Qi is the energy allocated by the body to maintain upright posture and to maintain the position of the organs in their healthy position in their battle with gravity. As one gets older, or if one experiences chronic fatigue or exhaustion, or during illness, this Upright Qi is easily depleted resulting in the sinking, or "prolapse," of organs.

The western world has only recently become aware of the uses of Astragalus root. Studies conducted in America support the assertion that astragalus root can enhance the immune system. The herb appears to be effective in strengthening immune response in people who undergo radiation treatment or chemotherapy for cancer.

People who used astragalus root during cancer treatment had fewer side effects and faster recovery time. Astragalus root appears to induce production of interferon, a chemical that is an essential part of the immune system and has been widely studied for its ability to fight the development of cancer.

As an immune system enhancer, astragalus root may also be a promising treatment for HIV and for autoimmune diseases such as lupus

It is used to increase energy, build resistance to illness, increase production of white blood cells, fight bacteria, stimulate appetite, fight fatigue, and combat colds and lung problems. It may increase resistance to viral infections, aid in would healing, and reduce water retention in kidney complications, help to control blood sugar, and may reduce side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.

Astragalus enhances the function of the skin to eliminate toxins. It is commonly used to help sores in the skin to come to a head and suppurate, and thus to heal more quickly and effectively.

Astragalus has a mild diuretic action and helps to relieve excessive sweating. It is helpful in treating loose stools, chronic diarrhea and chronic or recurring colds. If a cold lasts too long it can cause a general fatigue syndrome that can itself become chronic. Astragalus helps people who just can’t seem to shake a cold, by strengthening the immune system.

Roots of astragalus plants that are at least four years old are dried and used for medicinal purposes. As an herbal remedy, astragalus root is said to ward off infections and possibly even cancer. It works in part by helping the skin to eliminate toxins.

Astragalus root contains several compounds that are thought to help strengthen the immune system. These include polysaccharides, saponins, astragalosides, flavonoids and triterpenes.

The active ingredients in astragalus root make it useful topically to help sores on the skin to heal. It can also be used to treat chronic symptoms of colds and flu, as well as diarrhea.

Astragalus root is a mild diuretic, and it can help to reduce sweating as well. In traditional Chinese medicine, all of these uses are attributed to the ability of astragalus root to replenish "qi" so a person who is afflicted with an ailment can regain strength and immunity.

Astragalus root is also said to protect the adrenal cortex, the gland that produces hormones related to stress. It may also help allergy sufferers by strengthen the immune system's response to allergens in the environment.

In addition, the saponins in astragalus root may have an effect on cardiovascular disease. Saponins have an anticoagulant effect that can prevent the development of blood clots that may lead to heart attacks and stroke.

An interesting new area of research on Astragalus concerns its potential as a male fertility agent. Astragalus has been proved to stimulate sperm motility.

Astragalus root can be used safely with few side effects. It is available in powdered extracts, tinctures and teas. The roots are usually sliced diagonally, making them look like a tongue depressor. Generally, the older root is of better quality. One popular way to take this herb is as a decoction: 1 heaping teaspoon of shredded root, or 2-3 sticks, per cup of water, simmer covered for 15-20 minutes, strain before drinking as tea; it is also available as a tincture and in capsules/tablets (following instructions on manufacturer's label). Whole pieces may be added to soups and stews. Remove them before serving. The tea can be used to mix with concentrated frozen juices instead of using plain water to reconstitute them.

Cautionary Notes: Since astragalus root can increase the effects of certain antiviral medicines, people who are taking such medications should consult a physician before using the herb.

Also, astragalus may interfere with immune system suppressants that are prescribed to people who receive organ transplants, so it should not be used by these patients. Because of its anticoagulant activity, astragalus root may increase the risk of bleeding for people taking blood thinners such as Coumadin. Do not take before or after surgery as it could increase bleeding.

Always consult your physician or health provider before starting any herbal treatment. Astragalus is not recommended when there is acute diarrhea; it is not a problem if there is chronic mild diarrhea. Taking large concentrated amounts for a prolonged period, in the form of extracts or capsules, may cause abdominal and chest tension in some people.

At http://www.ohiotraders.com/herbs.html we sell Astragalus root slices as well as many ethnobotanical plants and exotic herbs. We offer secure credit card payment as well as Paypal.

Vitamin C-Healing Wonder Or Myth?

By S. Wagner

I was a sick kid. That's all there was too it. I was born over 2 months premature and from day one I had one problem after another. I had chronic sore throats, ear infections, you name it. I missed more school than I attended. At one point, my mother didn't think I was going to last long. Quite honestly, either did I. Then something amazing happened. My mother got desperate and took me to a well known nutritionist in New York City by the name of Maxamillion Lewitter. He was German and spoke like Bela Lagosi.

Long story short, Dr. Lewitter put me on a very strict diet and had my mother give me massive doses of vitamin C. I was 12 at the time. By the time I entered high school, one year later, I started a string of class attendance that only saw me miss 3 days of school in 4 years.

I was a different person. And I did it without harmful drugs.

Vitamin C literally saved my life.

So just what is the story with vitamin C? Why is it we always hear so much talk about taking plenty of vitamin C in the winter so that we don't catch our death of cold? Is it just an old wives tale or is there something to it? Well, I can tell you from my own personal experience that vitamin C is no old wives tale. It is indeed a wonder non drug. But just how does vitamin C work and why does it work so well?

What most people don't realize is that very small amounts of vitamin C are needed in order for the body to function naturally, about 90 mg per day. It's only when we become ill that we need to have more vitamin C in order to get our bodies back to normal. This ranges from 500 mg per day up to a max of 2000 mg per day, depending on the individual. Do not take more than 2000 mg per day because vitamin C can be toxic if you take too much, even though it does come out in the urine. If you're very ill, 2000 mg per day for about a week should pretty much get rid of whatever is in your body that is making you sick.

To answer the question of why it works so well, it depends on who you ask. The truth is, the medical community at large is split on the health benefits of vitamin C. There are those who stand firmly behind its healing powers and then there is the other side which isn't quite so sure or flat out refutes these claims. For those who believe in vitamin C, and mind you these beliefs are based on tests which include those that have confirmed that vitamin C cures scurvy, the explanation behind why vitamin C can cure many ills centers on the findings that vitamin C actually protects cells of our body from harm and helps us absorb iron from food, which increases our blood count. Why is that important? Because a low blood count, which even medical doctors will confirm, increases our risk of anemia and many other problems.

In spite of all the evidence, science can't agree on the benefits of vitamin C, which are too numerous to get into in this article. However, evidence aside, I know in my heart that had it not been for vitamin C and some sensible eating, I would not be here today to write this article.

Healing wonder or myth? I'll let you decide for yourself.

Acupuncture Quick Basic Facts

By Gudni Einarsson

Acupuncture is a type of medical procedure that many people have felt benefited them but some might often avoid it due to a lack of knowledge about it. This article, will discuss some facts about acupuncture that will help to give more clarity.

When most people think of acupuncture, they think about someone sticking needles into various points on their body. But in fact acupuncturists may work to activate acupuncture points on the body through different methods. Lasers are sometimes used to activate acupuncture points, as well as magnets, electrical currents, and even certain herbs. The most common thou are the use of needles.

While acupuncture is a type of medical procedure, it has been developed through philosophy. Taoists explored qi and the meridians by meditating and discovering where energy radiated throughout the human body.

Many people avoid acupuncture because of fear of pain when needles are inserted. Stainless steel needles that are used in acupuncture are nothing like the needles that are used to draw blood or administer shots. Medical needles are wider in diameter, since they need to be hollow so that fluids can be injected into the body or blood can be taken out. The acupuncture needles can be as thin as hair, so the difference is substantial.

In addition to treating physical symptoms that someone may be having, acupuncture is very useful for treating mental and emotional problems. Anxiety, stress, and drug detoxification can be helped and often with good result.

Always go to acupuncturist that is certified. People have to learn for at least three years to be certified, ensuring quality care.

Acupuncture is helpful medical procedure. It can help you to keep balanced and in times of stress it is very helpful to maintain equilibrium. You do not even have to have problems since it is considered preventative for disease.

Learn more about acupuncture and how it relates to disease. What is it and how does it work? Is it helpful?

The Healing Power Of Herbs

By S. Wagner

We hear a lot of talk about herbs and how they can treat various ailments. In a society where we are brought up to believe that the only way to cure our ills is to go to the doctor and get a pill, shot or even an operation, we can't help but wonder if all this talk about herbs is just that, talk. Or is there something to it? Can herbs really cure us of what ails us? We're going to take a look at some herbs and the claims that nutritionists make. In many cases, there is documented evidence of these claims. Makes you wonder. Fact or fiction, or a little of both?

Ginger is said to be very good for treating cases of nausea. Ginger, for those interested, originated in China and quickly spread to Southeast Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. Even though it is commonly referred to as a root, it is actually an herb from the Zingiber officinale plant. As to the claims that Ginger is great for nausea, I can honestly say that I have personally used ginger to treat nausea when I had severe post nasal drip and it worked like a charm. Okay, maybe treating nausea isn't the same as curing cancer, but the point is, taking ginger powder in tea definitely did the trick when nothing else worked.

Rose hips are said to be great for fighting off infection. Rose hips are the fruit from the rose plant. Many people use rose hips in herbal tea. They actually taste very good. But fight infection? Well, there is a reason for that. Rose hips just happen to be very high in vitamin C. As a matter of fact, rose hips are probably the most natural concentrated source of vitamin C, containing between 1700 and 2000 mg per 100 grams of rose hips. That would be the equivalent of about 3 or 4 vitamin C tablets at 500 mg each. Again, from my own experience, I have fought off many colds without drugs by simply drinking rose hips tea.

Devils claw is said to have great anti-inflammatory properties. Devils claw is a plant that comes from the sesame family. The pant itself is native to South Africa. The are two active ingredients in devils claw, Harpagoside and Beta sitosterol. Supposedly, it is these ingredients that give devils claw its anti-inflammatory properties. Again, from my own experience, having suffered from sinus headaches for many years, I can honestly say that taking devils claw actually relieved my pain.

Granted, this is a very short list. I chose it to make a point though. These are just three herbs that all claim to have some healing power. The skeptic would dismiss this as drug bashing. I looked at the claims and simply said to myself, well, if that's what they claim, why not give it a shot? So I did. The results were amazing. Granted, we're not talking about serious illnesses here. However, if these herbs were able to relieve my relatively moderate symptoms, who's to say that there aren't herbs out there that can actually cure things as serious as cancer?

Personally, I will keep an open mind to the possibility until somebody proves otherwise.
